Chapel

Located on a former industrial street in the Village, this project envisions a chapel as a sanctuary for both solitude and community. From the street, a series of arcs extends an inviting gesture, drawing pedestrians into the human-scale of the corner site. The plan encourages individual contemplation while the section promotes open and airy connections.

Light, materiality, and spatial transitions shape the circulation and experience of faith. The chapel’s organization is shaped by the site’s sunpath, with communal spaces positioned to embrace natural light, while private meditative and administrative areas are tucked into the shade. Spatial transitions of compression and expansion guide the visitor’s emotional journey. The central worship area remains visually connected to the city and sky, creating a sense of openness that engages both passing pedestrians and those in prayer.
